“"Bubblegum Girl" comes from a girl I ran into when I was traveling in Seoul Korea, she was casually leaning against a wall chewing gum, free, bold and full of energy as if there's nothing can bother or stop her. 

The background though, is sampled from a wall I spotted in the backstage of an art center in Shenyang. The wall is covered with doodles by kids, and these ones caught my attention: ’不想学习 - Dont want to Study!' 'Me Too!' and  '假(fake)' with a big ❌, all in naive handwrittings. 

This ‘hidden corner’ shows the children’s inner world so frankly. I can’t help but imagine the look on their faces at the moment when they smeared, the flash of impudence and freedom, boldly expressing protest and disdain for some ‘fake’!

This is a snapshot of youth: bright and rebellious, beautiful and restless, like an unruly wild cat licking her hair in a corner, or a fluorescent bubble shinning under the sunlight.”

“Bubblegum girl的背景采样于沈阳一个艺术中心角落墙壁上孩子们的随手涂画 - 如果你观察那些不被人注意的隐秘角落：贫民窟墙壁上的涂鸦，雪后屋顶上的大字，或是落满灰尘的玻璃上人们手指划出的图案，那往往透露着人们心底最真实的想法和声音。

孩子用幼稚的字迹在牆上写道 “不想上学” 还有英文呢 - “Don't Want To Study!” （没少上英语补习课），旁边另外一个字迹加了句"Me Too”表示同意，右上角还有个"假"字被画上了大大的❌。这‘隐秘的角落’开诚布公的展示着孩子的内心世界，我不禁想象他们涂抹时那一刻的神态，那一闪而过的放肆和自由，大胆的对某种‘假’表示抗议和不屑！

我把这背景和一个阳光下吹泡泡糖女学生拼贴在一起，少年时就是这样吧，明媚也叛逆，美好也躁动，是不羁的野猫也是荧光色的泡泡糖。”
